The peak frequency is at 1700 hours (5 PM Central Standard Time or 6 PM Daylight Savings Time). 73.2% of all Nebraska tornadoes (1800/2460) have occurred between 3 PM and 8:59 PM. 64.4% of all Nebraska tornadoes (1585/2460) have occurred between 4 PM and 8:59 PM. 42.1% of all Nebraska tornadoes (1036/2460) have occurred between 5 PM and 7:59 PM. The year 2001 saw the first and only tornado observed during the 8:00-8:59 AM CST hour.
