| Tornadoes prior to
1953 were UNDER-REPORTED. A national tornado data collection
process was put into place in 1953. Some of the recent
increased number of reported tornadoes is due to increased
public and media awareness and reporting of tornadoes. That is,
not all of the recent increase in tornado reports is real. |
